Restore a more youthful appearance with dermal fillers such as Restylane®, RHA®, and collagen injections in Tracy, CA, from Dr. Thomas McNemar. Collagen is a protein found in the second layer of skin known as the dermis (the first visible layer is called the epidermis). Dr. McNemar injects collagen under the dermis layer to add fullness to areas of the face such as the lips, cheeks, and forehead.
For residents of California communities near our offices like Pleasanton and Dublin, facial rejuvenation with injectables like collagen and Restylane can improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Request a Consultation online at Dr. McNemar’s Tracy location.
What Are Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers are injectable substances, often made with hyaluronic acid, that add volume under the skin. These versatile products instantly provide a variety of cosmetic improvements, which include:
- Smoothing out folds and lines around the mouth
- Adding and restoring volume to the cheeks, tear troughs (under the eyes), and temples
- Plumping up and defining the lips
- Softening the appearance of shallow scars such as those from acne
In addition to collagen, Dr. McNemar uses fat injections for many of the same improvements as dermal fillers.
Restylane is a safe and natural cosmetic dermal filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds. Restylane maintains its shape using the body’s own moisture. The hyaluronic acid in this product is hydrophilic or “water loving.” As hyaluronic acid gradually breaks down, each molecule binds to more water and over time, the same volume can be maintained with less hyaluronic acid. This ability of hyaluronic acid to bind to water is what helps provide long-lasting results.
Is Restylane Safe?
Restylane is FDA approved and has a highly favorable safety profile. It is composed of non-animal stabilized hyaluronic acid and is fully biocompatible since hyaluronic acid is a substance found naturally in the human body. There is a limited risk of animal-based disease transmission or the development of allergic reactions to animal proteins.
The RHA family of fillers softens expression lines and fills in deep facial lines for effective facial rejuvenation. These fillers are formulated with a resilient hyaluronic acid for natural-looking results that last up to 15 months or more.

How Long Do Dermal Fillers Last?
While dermal fillers are temporary, results can last from 6 months to 2 years depending on the specific filler and area treated. Fillers used in static areas of the face, like the cheeks, typically last longer than in the lips, which move a lot.
Can Dermal Fillers Be Combined With Other Treatments?
Certainly! Dr. McNemar often combines filler treatments with BOTOX® Cosmetic, DAXXIFY®, or Dysport® treatments, often called a liquid facelift, to give patients from Pleasanton, Dublin, and other cities near our offices a more complete facial rejuvenation. Filler treatments can also complement facial plastic surgery procedures such as a facelift, brow lift, and eyelid surgery.
If you’re considering collagen, Restylane, or other treatments that don’t require plastic surgery, Dr. Thomas McNemar can help you satisfy your cosmetic goals. Request a Consultation today or call (209) 834-0626 for our Tracy office to make your appointment.
