Laser Skin Resurfacing

The emergence of fractional laser technology revolutionized skin resurfacing treatments. There are multiple laser skin treatments available, but fractional carbon dioxide (CO2) lasers are generally considered the most effective for treating deeper wrinkles, scars caused by acne or traumatic injury, and moderate to severe sun damage.

Fractional lasers, such as the Lutronic eCO2 used by Dr. McNemar, create microwounds without injuring all of the skin. Because the treatment affects only a fraction of the skin, discomfort and downtime are minimal compared to more aggressive skin resurfacing lasers that strip away the skin's outer layer. The benefits of fractional CO2 laser skin resurfacing include:

The tiny channels created by the laser stimulate the body's natural healing process, producing new collagen and elastin. These are the building blocks of smoother, more youthful-looking skin. The results emerge gradually, and patients typically take a few days off from work after the treatments as the skin heals. The most common side effects of fractional laser resurfacing are redness and swelling, along with some crusty and flaky skin.

More about Plasma Resurfacing

Recently cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use in treating non-facial rhytides (wrinkles), Portrait PSR³ is an innovative treatment that stimulates the skin's natural regenerative process. It is the only plasma skin regeneration technology available for patients seeking cosmetic improvement for individual or simultaneous treatment of facial and non-facial areas for rhytides, superficial skin lesions, actinic keratosis, seborrhoeic keratosis, and viral papillomata.

Portrait PSR³ is making headlines across the nation and right here in the Bay Area. Watch an ABC news clip featuring Dr. McNemar performing this innovative treatment to turn back the clock on facial aging and learn more about all the procedure has to offer.

Portrait PSR³ delivers plasma energy deep into the dermis. Surface skin will start to shed as the new epidermis emerges. Plasma technology allows less trauma and faster healing than ablative procedures. Following treatment, improvements can be dramatic and long lasting. Portrait PSR³ is an ideal treatment for many of Dr. McNemar's patients who want to:

Patients sometimes combine plasma resurfacing with procedures like BOTOX® Cosmetic, dermal fillers or surgical procedures like brow lift and facelift in the Bay Area to achieve more comprehensive rejuvenation.

More about Chemical Peels

Chemical peels use a chemical solution to remove damaged outer layers. Alphahydroxy acids (AHAs), Trichloroacetic acid (TCA), and Phenol are common formulas used, each with its own uses and side effects. Dr. McNemar and his warm and friendly staff are available to help you learn more.
