About Liposuction

If you want to safely, effectively, and permanently remove specific, localized fat deposits that are resistant to diet and exercise, consider liposuction. Liposuction is also an essential step for patients who get a Brazilian butt lift. Liposuction is one of the more popular procedures that Dr. McNemar performs.

Liposuction was first introduced to the United States in the 1980s. Since then, improvements in surgical techniques and instruments have allowed surgeons to perform the procedure more safely, achieve better results, and shorten the recovery period. Today, Dr. McNemar can choose from several advanced surgical techniques and instruments to help you achieve the best results. Although liposuction can produce amazing results, there are limits to what it can achieve. Recommended guidelines limit the amount of fat that can safely be removed and the amount of body sculpting that can be accomplished. Because of this, it should not be considered a substitute for weight reduction or a treatment for obesity.

Liposuction is among the most popular cosmetic surgical procedures performed in the United States. Each year, nearly half a million people have liposuction to remove unwanted fat and redefine body proportions. The procedure is popular because it can produce dramatic changes in your body contour, often accomplishing what years of diet and exercise couldn’t achieve. Inconspicuous scars and a relatively short recovery period add to its appeal. With these advantages, it’s easy to see why millions of Americans, and perhaps you, are considering liposuction as a way to achieve a more sleek, streamlined appearance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it possible to combine other procedures with liposuction?

Yes. Liposuction is frequently added to tummy tuck surgery to enhance its results without lengthening recovery time. Additionally, many women who have had children are interested in getting a mommy makeover. The popular combination of procedures usually includes liposuction, a tummy tuck, and breast augmentation or a breast lift.

Can liposuction treat cellulite?

Liposuction is a fat reduction procedure and doesn’t help eliminate the dimpled skin caused by cellulite. LipoSelection, the ultrasonic liposuction technique Dr. McNemar offers, does tighten the skin in certain cases, but it isn’t considered a cellulite treatment. Cellulite is caused by fibrous bands that pull on the skin from below, rather than by fat.

A Reputation Built on Results

Great experience overall.

Very honest and diligent with the surgery he shows empathy and is realistic about patient expectations.
I Had a Panniculectomy, which is a CHEAP version of a Tummy Tuck to Remove the FLAP after having 5 Children....

Is liposuction permanent?

Fat cells removed during the procedure are gone for good. You’ll enjoy the results of liposuction as long as your weight remains relatively stable. Weight gains usually appear in other areas than those where you had liposuction, because the fat cells that remain in your body can still enlarge.

How much fat can be removed during liposuction?

Liposuction is not a weight-loss procedure, so the amount of fat removed isn’t significant. The actual amount of fat removed depends on the size of the treatment area or areas and the patient’s body size. There are general guidelines plastic surgeons follow to ensure the patient’s safety during liposuction. If a patient wants to treat multiple areas, Dr. McNemar may recommend undergoing separate operations to minimize the risk of complications.

Is liposuction safe?

Undergoing any major procedure does come with risks. To ensure that you are making the best decision for your health and safety, it is recommended to entrust a board-certified plastic surgeon with your weight loss procedure. We recommend discussing your concerns in your consultation with Dr. Thomas McNemar.

Advantages of VASER

The technology used to perform LipoSelection by VASER is tissue-selective. Important tissues such as nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissue remain relatively undisturbed while the ultrasound energy application fragments fat. Fat is subsequently removed in an emulsified state with massage and our proprietary cannulae, which are designed with minimal tissue trauma in mind.
